PATTERN CHON JI—19 MOVEMENTS

Literally translated means Heaven and Earth. In the orient it is interpreted as the creation of the world or the beginning of human history, therefore it is the first pattern learnt by a beginner. The pattern consists of two similar parts, one representing the Heaven the other the Earth.

BELT MEANING: YELLOW represents the earth where the seed of Taekwon-Do is planted as the foundation of Taekwon-Do is being laid


DEFINITION OF A PATTERN - A pattern is a series of defensive and movements against an imaginary opponent.

OFFENSIVE TECHNIQUES - Ap joomuk kaunde ap jirugi

TERMINOLOGY RELATING TO AN OPPONENT

Inside block—AN MAKI—blocking to the inside of the opponents attack Outside block—BAKAT MAKI—blocking to the outside of the opponent's attack

Inward block—ANURO MAKI—blocking arm traveling inwards Outward block—BAKURO MAKI—blocking arm traveling outwards

Inner forearm block—AN PALMOK MAKI—a block using the inner forearm as a tool Outer forearm block—BAKAT PALMOK MAKI—a block using the outer forearm as a tool

Walking stance high side block flat fingertip thrust
